New JAREL Men’s Stainless Steel Automatic Chronograph Watch. Model: JL1099-A. This is a true automatic chronograph – has built in stop-watch. It is one of the most difficult of all automatic movements to build. The intricate mechanism is visible through the mineral glass back. Prized by collectors, these watches make a statement of achievement and prestige. This is a very rare watch. There were only 12 ever built. We can not offer any warranty because we have no spare parts available. Our listing specifies ‘no returns’ but we offer to wave that provision and accept a return if you contact us within 14 days following your receipt and the watch is brand new and unused. We are asking you to trust our fairness in this policy. Over 20 years as ebay sellers, we have had exactly three negative feed-backs, which is difficult to achieve with watches.. This is because we tried like heck to prevent any problems from occurring and when a problem did arise, we took responsibility for our own problems. Therefore, we are offering a full refund less $17.50 covering outbound shipping and insurance but we ask you to allow us to make the final decision of accepting the return once it arrives here, to insure that the watch has not been used or damaged. . Ebay seems to have no function to handle the “new returns only” provision so any return would have to be handled by us and not through an automated ebay function. You may take the watch to your favorite jeweler for his/her opinion and then return it (within 14-days) if you like but do not open the back or wear the watch–until you decide to keep it. Frankly, our return rate is extremely low. Most of our listings don’t even mention all this, except that mechanical watches are complex items and are more commonly misunderstood. For one thing, they do not keep the same accuracy as a battery-operated watch. This unit has been on a watch-winder for seven consecutive days and is now two minutes fast compared with my computer clock. That does not insure that there won’t be some variance in real-use conditions. However, this is the normal testing procedure and the variance noticed is also customary. Also, the chronograph function (timer) is not intended to be constantly running. If you leave it running, it will deplete the power reserve in the movement more quickly and also, may change the daily accuracy slightly. There is no battery. The power is supplied by your wrist motion and if worn every day, it is designed to run perpetually. The power in reserve varies based on the activity level of the wearer but is generally around 36 hours from fully activated. If you do not wear the item, it will stop running until it is returned to your wrist. . With the advent of the quartz module in the late 70s and early 80s, mechanical watches fell out of fashion. The auto-chronograph went out of production. A watchmaker by the name of Emerich Meerson asked the largest Swiss movement manufacturer to reintroduce their Automatic Chronograph caliper in about 1990. They agreed, providing that he would purchase 1,000 movements. Of course, today, 1,000 auto-chronos is about 3 days industry supply. However, at the time, this was a huge number and Mr. Meerson had to find a second watch company to purchase 1/2 the minimum production run. Breitling agreed and the watches became an instant hit and grand success for both companies.(Neither we or Jarel is affiliated with Breitling or Emerich Meerson. The industry background is provided for interest only).Please note that ebay seems to be offering “expert verification” which is a great thing except that there is nothing to verify. We were the Jarel watch company who owed the trademark and built the watches for over a decade.
